This dramaturgical project is in the legacy of the many great black publications from Freedom’s Journal  to The Root. Black people around the world and in this country have been publishing their own stories on their terms. As we begin this journey through Thebes by way of Athens, Greece and this journey through Chicago by way of Athens, Georgia it seems fitting to think with and like the Freedom, Crisis, Chicago Defender, LA Sentinel, and New York New Amsterdam News. So I invite you to take in this dramaturgy like the news, like the news used to be, imagine that it is for us, by us, and with us. Read what interests you, what sparks curiosity, what helps you imagine this world we are building together might be and how you might make that possible.
